The Green Homes Grant – Money for home improvements from the Government – that you do not pay back!
According to a recent survey over 50% of households intend to take advantage of the Green Homes Grant from September 2020 and another 25% are considering doing so.
Launched by the Chancellor in July 2020 the Green Homes Grant will provide homeowners throughout the UK vouchers for energy efficiency improvements, in which the government will cover two-thirds of the cost of improvements to help homeowners make their homes more energy efficient. These vouchers are a Grant not a loan and therefore do not need to be repaid.
Homes will have to pay 1/3 of the cost so if the improvements are £2000 then the Government will provide £1333 and the homeowner £666 and only Accredited Suppliers can be used, which will be listed on a website allowing you to select one available in your area.
The improvements that could save you the most energy depend on your home, but typical examples include:
Central Heating – new boiler
renewable energy generation, such as solar panels or heat pumps
insulation, such as solid wall, cavity wall or loft insulation
draught-proofing
double glazing
Low energy lighting
There is a fund of £2 billion for the vouchers and there will be a build up to launch during August 2020.
We will be providing more details as they are released including how to apply and how to access Tradesmen. Contact us to be notified as the details are released.
